| Abstract : |
| Digital Institutional repository’ (IR) can be considered as the most innovative and creative representation of Library and Information Centre through which an academic and research institute showcases and shares its digital outputs. The various steps of building an IR can be sum up with planning, communication, defining repository services, collection building, website design and promotion. Librarian as a host of IR, should himself first learn copyright issues so that he can clearly define the legal obligations in content submissions and other related issues. To increase the use of IRs basically in India web 2.0 technologies should be integrated. IR is a boon for Libraries and a well planned IR may be the best medium to showcase and institute’s intellectual output. |
